Anoxia

Anoxia is a  2D animated project about an overbearing mother and her meek daughter recovering their boat home from the bottom of the ocean.

The film has a lot of experimental techniques, one of which is using CG fish instead of 2D animated ones. My role was to model, texture rig and animate said fish.

As fish are so different from humans or quadrupeds, I was allowed to experiment with how to make these fish move. Two of the used ribbon spines, the other two used a simple FK system, and the last one used a Sine Deformer for the body, and the tail was driven by an nHair simulation.

They're all CellShaded, in order to match their 2D animated surroundings better.

Feel free to look at the fish turnarounds and demos on this page.
